My Story So Far…

My name is Peter Canero and I am a former professional footballer. I began playing football in a professional capacity from the age of 16. I was fortunate enough to play in the Scottish Premier League with Kilmarnock & Dundee United, the English Premiership with Leicester City and finally the MLS with the New York Red bulls. I was capped at every level for Scotland including a full Scotland cap against Denmark.

Life after football…

Unfortunately, I was forced to retire from football earlier than expected due to multiple knee injuries. After numerous hours spent in the phyisio room I became fascinated with the importance of alternative therapy as a preventative measure as well as to aid rehabilitation. I studied to extend my understanding of the anatomy, imbalance and injury. I now firmly believe in the benefits of alternative therapy such as sports massage and other techniques.

My experience in this field…

Throughout my professional career I have had the pleasure of receiving treatment and advice from some of the best physiotherapists in the industry of sport. My official training began at Excel Sports in New Jersey whilst playing with the Red Bulls. Physiotherapists here work with some of the top professional athletes in football, basketball & baseball. From my personal experience of having several sporting injuries, the benefits of alternative therapies are invaluable to the success of proper rehabilitation. I truly believe and have experience of the huge psychological and physical benefits that massage therapy offers. The benefits of massage therapy… There are tremendous benefits to be achieved through regular massage therapy treatments. Whether your need is to have a moment of relaxation, reduce muscle tension or attain relief from chronic pain, a therapeutic massage can enhance your overall sense of emotional and physical well-being. Even if you are only feeling a little run down, stressed and pressure at work is getting to you treat yourself to a massage treatment. Massage therapy can be an important part of your health maintenance plan.

What type of massage can I provide?

I offer my expertise in Sports Massage to treat and prevent any injury or pain. I am also fully qualified to deliver Thai Massage, Swedish Massage and Acupressure which can be combined into the treatment depending on your required needs. This is something I provide as a therapeutic massage therapist is to offer body-work specific on pain alleviation, rehabilitation and recovery from injury. To make use of my massage therapy abilities in effleurage, friction, vibrations, percussion, wringing and acu-lengthen to provide precautionary and rehabilitative treatment to my clients.

My objective as a massage therapist…

My goal is to promote the advantages of regular sports massage and other alternative therapy as a preventative measure as well as for treating injury. This will promote increased flexibility which is vital to anyone performing any kind of physical exercise. Prior to treating any patient, I always conduct a free consultation where I will discuss my patients needs and advise the most suitable treatment available. I have spent many hours with clients teaching them specific stretches and movements to allow them to help themselves and reap the further benefits of the massage at home. For many, this knowledge has increased the effectiveness of the rehabilitation treatment.
